No classes for Catholic, Presby Schools as GES declares May 9 a holiday

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has pronounced Thursday, May 9, 2024, as a public occasion for all Catholic and Presbyterian Schools cross country.

This choice lines up with the recognition of Rising Day for the year. In a joint explanation, Ms. Araba Ahima Bentum, Senior supervisor of the Ghana Catholic Training Unit, and Daniel Yeboah Hienno, Senior supervisor of Presbyterian Schools, affirmed that this choice is as per the festival of Climb Day.

"I wish to illuminate you that every Catholic School and workplaces of the Catholic Training Unit all through the nation will notice Thursday 09th May 2024 as Rising Day and Required Blessed day.

All Catholic Schools the nation over will hence be on vacation for the perception of the Rising Day," It reported.

The assertion further encouraged all territorial directors of the Catholic Training Unit, as well as pastors in Senior Secondary Schools and tertiary establishments, to guarantee the recognition of the day.

Additionally, all Presbyterian Schools and workplaces of the Presbyterian Instruction Unit cross country are expected to notice the Rising Day Festivity, with all schools and workplaces shut for the afternoon.

“It is our hope that Presbytery Chairpersons will encourage their District Ministers to fully participate in this celebration,” the statement added.
