I’m not obsessed with getting a higher position – ACP Kofi Sarpong on IGP role

Kofi Sarpong, a well-known gospel artist and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), recently responded to rumors that he might one day become Ghana's IGP.

During a meeting with Joy Prime television, ACP Sarpong explained that while he values the feeling, he is right now centered around his job in supporting the officeholder IGP, George Akuffo Addo Dampare, in improving the police administration. He featured that he presently can't seem to achieve the positions of Agent Magistrate of Police (DCOP) and Chief of Police (COP), requirements for qualification as an IGP.

ACP Sarpong communicated his eagerness to accept the most elevated position in the police administration when everything looks good. The conversation that ACP Sarpong had with the host, Kpekpo Maxwell Jackson, shed light on both his dedication to his current duties and his aspirations for leadership in the police force in the future. ACP Kofi Sarpong: All commissioners can be appointed IGP when you get to COP.

I need to complete DCOP and COP right now to reach that level. Kpekpo Maxwell Jackson: I might want to consider you to be an IGP in this country one day. You'll be an excellent leader.

ACP Kofi Sarpong: That will be wonderful, but for the time being, I am serving my IGP, Dampare, who is doing amazing work.
