Black Stars ranked 67th globally, 14th in Africa -FIFA rankings

Following their disheartening performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ghana has encountered a critical decrease in the most recent FIFA World Rankings.

The Black Stars, recently positioned 61st toward the finish of 2023, have now plunged six places to 67th internationally, mirroring their relapse on both the worldwide and African rankings. Cape Verde, South Africa, and DR Congo have all moved ahead of Ghana, which is currently ranked 14th in the CAF rankings. Ghana has won the AFCON four times.

This decline comes as a result of Ghana's early exit from the AFCON in 2023, when they won only two matches against Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique. In the mean time, Côte d'Ivoire, the bosses of the 2023 AFCON facilitated in Cote d'Ivoire, have seen a critical ascent in their positioning, climbing ten spots to 39th universally.

Nigeria, the other participants, have additionally gained significant headway, climbing 14 spots to 28th. Moreover, Angola, who was dispensed with by Nigeria in the quarterfinals, encountered the most extensive improvement, climbing 24 spots to 93rd in the worldwide rankings.
