African Games 2023: Black Princesses secure gold for Ghana after beating Nigeria


Ghana's U-20 ladies' team, the Black Princesses, guaranteed their eleventh gold decoration at the African Games by staging an exceptional comeback to overcome Nigeria in an outright exhilarating last at Cape Coast Arena.


The game, which occurred on Thursday night, saw the Ghanaians fall behind early when goalkeeper Afi Amenyeku's mistake permitted Nigeria's Edeh Njideka to score in the 23rd moment.


The Black Princesses, on the other hand, fought back strongly and dominated the remainder of the first half, creating numerous scoring chances but failing to convert them. With a powerful shot from the left flank, Tracy Twum finally scored an equalizer in the 77th minute.
























With neither team ready to find a victor in regulation time, the game went into additional time.


In the 99th minute, Mukarama Abdulai scored the unequivocal goal with a very much positioned shot into the base corner, sending the home group into a furor.


The Black Princesses won a historic victory despite Nigeria's late pressure. This is Ghana's second gold award in ladies' football at the African Games, with their most memorable coming in the 2015 release, additionally under the direction of mentor Yussif Basigi.
