16 persons injured after premix fuel explosion at Essikadu Ketan

An explosion at a premix fuel depot in Ngyirasia, a fishing local area in Essikadu Ketan, Western Region, brought about extreme wounds for sixteen people.


The episode happened when spilled premix fuel came into contact with live fire from fishmongers in a close by smoking office around 4pm on Saturday, May 18. Three of the injured were taken to the Saint Benedict Hospital in Inchaban, while thirteen of the injured were taken to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Takoradi for treatment.


Two vehicles, an Opel Astra Taxi and a Range Rover, were destroyed in the explosion despite the prompt response and intervention of personnel from the Western Regional command of the Ghana National Fire Service.
